Breckinridge Snow Sculptures

It's pretty fantastic that my sister is so adventurous. On Saturday we drove all the big kids up to Breckinridge to see the Snow sculpture competition. With a little pit stop for lunch.

And a long bus ride from our parking spot. There were loads of people there.

This is what the snow looks like before they start. Teams come from all over the world to compete. They work from 7am until 11pm for 4 days carving and shaping. they were all amazing!

This one was called "Revenge of the Calamari" . It was one of my favorites.

Across the yard was a big field of snow caves and slides and castles the kids could play on. It was 20 degrees with a little wind. The kids were happy the whole time. They had a ton of fun!

There was an ice sculpture for every company advertising there. The ice was so clear!

Couldn't resist stopping to see the buffalo on the side of the road on the way home. Cooper was especially excited since he had been studying them in school.

Best Sledding Hill Ever

There is a park at the top of Green Mtn. called Beech park. The hill is insane and the field at the bottom goes on forever. We took two gigantic inter tubes along with our sleds and the kids went wild! They were so tired at the end, the hike up was quite the work out.

Summer ate snow the whole time.

We love having our cousins here and relish every moment we spend with them!

Julia LOVES shoes. Every time we go to the shoe store she trys on the most fabulous and shiny/glittery shoe she can find and wants me to take her picture in every one of them. She's amazing.

Fox and Dad on their first 11 year old scout overnighter. They said it was freezing but they stayed warm and had a great time. They hiked in with all their gear for about a mile and a half. ate delicious warm dinner. Fox learned how to chop wood with an axe and start a fire. They came home all in one piece!

Of course mom always out does me on just about everything but I love it! Here is dinner at her house on Halloween night. The kids had a ball but I think the adults had more fun watching them react. That mom is sooo creepy!

We had the funnest Halloween Soiree! Summer was our official photographer and did everything else too as did Mom. Amazing party planners are essential!

Summertime FUN!

We had so much fun this summer. I'll just quickly go down the list and mention a few.
Picnic at the Golden Farmers market for Dad's birthday.

Swimming alot at the Glennon Heights pool with cousins and friends.

Camping at the Ellsworth park a few times come rain or shine. If the rain, we sleep under the roof. Wouldn't you?

Carousel horses to celebrate Julia's 4th birthday!!!!

Playing in the mud pit after a huge rain storm. The boys were all over that yard but they did it in their underwear so I spared them the embarrassment of naked pictures.

Our favorite Brit, Louise came to visit and the kids cannot get enough of her! Isn't she Gorgeous!

Summer has too much fun swimming and gets pooped out before we can get her to her bed. Cooper like to harass her.

Louise is giving Mason the most wicked mohawk. It takes talent to get those locks to stay high.

The firehouse Museum downtown had an open house so Grandpa took all the grandkids for a tour. We got to ride the fire engine around the block and the boys sprayed the hose. It was clean water so the girls played in the runoff.

Bunjie trampolines at Copper

Our whole family went up to Copper Mtn. and played all day riding the skii lift to the top of the mtn., bumper boating, golfing, riding digglers, and having drag races in the go carts. It was a blast!

Yard work. The kids really like to get sweaty and help out their dad.

The kids consumed two huge boxes of these otter pops this summer. That's a record for our family.

Yes that Julia riding the rake to get it to weigh enough to pull enough dirt. Steve worked his guts out on the yard this year. It's looking great!

The whole family was here for a little get together. We had the most fun together and everyone loved being with each other, even for just a weekend. The kids all got along so well. We had an "everybody birthday party" and some family portraits taken and the food, it was divine!

On the ferry out to Ellis Island . We took the guided tour through the museum. it was amazing to learn what happened here.

The most delicious food. On the Ellis Island day we didn't eat at all until 2 in the afternoon. We were starving and we found the greatest little deli across from Battery Park. We ate all of this food. It was heaven!

Rockefeller Center!! We walked up 5th avenue all morning this day. A few of our favorites were Lindt chocolates, H&M, St Patricks Cathedral.

We went to Dylan's Candy Bar while we waited for our 45 min. seating to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolates just like in the movie of the same name. After and hour they told us it would be another hour wait. A little too popular for me. We jetted but not before a few sweets at this fun place!

We have been having entirely too much fun in the last few months. Cooper and Mason were in the school play. They made their own costumes and Mason had a speaking part which he did very well!

We like to reward good behavior with ice cream at our house.

This year's annual Pinewood Derby! Fox and Mason had a ball. They love their new scout troop and they are having so much fun making new friends and goofing around. I love it too. They made their cars all by themselves but were clearly out shined by those who had a little"help". That's ok. that is what being a kid is all about.

One of my very favorite friends moved away from us this week. This a picture of the girls gorging themselves on cupcakes on her back porch. My girls LOVE playing at her house because she has three girls and the best girl toys ever! Also, their Mom Vicki has the best treats and spoils the kids whenever they are over. I will miss their family dearly. Hopefully our weekly phone calls ( to make sure we've survived the week) won't stop even though we can't see each other anymore.

On their way back home the cousins came to spend some more time together. We let the boys stay home from school to go swimming all day one day. We spent several days at the park. Slumber parties. They threw down mean game of UNO. Lots of serious talking and 'hanging out". We just love having them here and saying goodbye was oh so hard. Love you all. The Kehrs came to visit on their way to Utah. We were so excited to spend the day and night with them. The kids just love being together and can't get enough of each other. The weather was perfect for us to spend most of the day outside, here we are at the park around the corner from our house. I even managed to get a bit of a sunburn, in February! We can't wait to see you all again in a couple days!

Our first park day of the Cooler season. Everyone was in their sweaters. It seems like it just happened overnight. We went to the park to celebrate our new friends birthday. Summer is enjoying a lolly from the pinate the kids destroyed with a smile.

The Very first place Summer took us when we arrived at her house was this amazing breakfast nook in Swansboro that served the most incredible fritters. We picked strawberry but they also have banana and peach. We sat at the bar (best seats in town) so we could watch the magic happen. At one point one of the lady cooks saw one of us without a plate and yelled at us "Ya'll ain't going without breakfast". Certainly not! So we ordered a shrimp omelet that was to die for!

We got together with Will and Maggie and their brood. They came down from Raleigh to see us at Summers house. They are in the middle of a killer game of Simon Says.

Maggie is in Beauty school and Julia is benefitting here from her expertise!

Summer rented us a house on the beach to stay at while we were in NC. Here are all the Stamps Grandkids

The cotton tree in the front yard is such a wonderful shade all year long but while these things are flying in the air during spring I want to go at it with chain saw... or five chains saws. You can't even open the door to the outside without it the cotton billowing in. I have dust buster next to the door to vacuum it all up every time we come in and out. Do you remember what it was like to save up for a record or cassette? and when you got it, you just drank it up - every bit? Or that first time you listened to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through? This isn't just a CD. It is no collection of songs thrown in a playlist. This is perhaps Drew's finest work to date. I'm thumbing through the art book that comes with the disc and I'm getting lost in the adventure of the story.

When is the last time you sat in a nice chair and let music wash over you while you got lost in the artwork on the album cover?

Goodnight Dannii is a great reason to fire up the hi-fi and let loose. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Best Weekend Ever!

My favorite mission companion surprised me this last weekend with a visit from London. She

is one of my favorite people. We had a ball shopping and eating out and going to the movies. We laugh our guts out and just enjoyed every second of her short and cold visit. I hope she comes in the Summertime next time so we can really play it up!! Love ya louise!!!

On the very same weekend Mom also surprised me with a visit. Steve knew about both of them coming and kept it a secret for a long time, he's so sneaky!!! She got to be with the kids a lot and get her dose of grandkids in while we played. She was so good to babysit a lot but she said she loved it. Julia would not leave her side for a second. She slept at her house and she wouldn't even go to nursery on Sunday she wanted to stay right with Grandma. We also got to be together a lot and it wasn't enough. I can't wait until she comes back for good. For now I'm happy to share her with Summer and Nate. Thank you for a wonderful visit, mom. xoxoxo

Summer got to help us put all the presents out the night before so she was going to town, eating everything in sight!
These are a few "line ups" we do before we go out for presents on Christmas morning. We torture the children by making them take tons of pictures before opening all their presents.

A new tradition that I think will stick... we had powdered doughnuts for breakfast. Alot less cooking for mom. What gift that is for me not to have to work on Christmas. Thank you family!

We had a few friends over for a little get together and this is how the house looked. It was a Black and White affair. Everyone really got into the theme and dressed appropriately, and looked very elegant! It was very fun. Thank you to all who came. We ate divine food and wonderful company!!!

Grandma and Grandpa Stamps came to visit a couple weeks ago. We had a wonderful time with them and the children just LOVED them UP!

Julia could not let Grandpa have an empty lap, especially when treats were involved.

On Sunday they went to primary with the kids and the teachers loved it and said they were very helpful. They also said how cute it was that Grandma and Grandpa held hands the wole time. Thank you Stamps for making the voyage out to see us. We love you!!

Dress up?

I don't know if dressing up as a star wars guy on Halloween is different from any other day of the year, only that it's official. At our house the boys always look like this. Only Mason decided to go rogue on us and play Vampire or the night. We couldn't smooth talk Julia into a costume for even long enough to take the picture. At least they are all happy!

Summer. A little bug as usual. Such a happy baby.

Trick or treating this year was better than ever. The weather was so warm we didn't need coats for the first time. After the first block the kids were all tired and begged us to go home. Which means all their candy is gone (devoured) in the first week, after 10% is given to the Bishop of course. Best Halloween Ever!

More than I can't believe that he is 7 , I can't believe we've had all these kids and they have all been around for longer than 7 years. It's a whirlwind!

The boys have fall break this whole week so we went to the Butterfly Pavillion on Monday and the kids were just in heaven looking at all the bugs. Fox and Mason held the tirantula (Rosie)! They got to "pet" star fish and hermit crabs but they ask you not to pet the butterflies.

We spent Saturday morning digging up fenceposts. This one proved especially difficult. It was about twice as big as the others, and it also had "Bryan 9/90" set in the top. 19 years in the ground was long enough.

We got out of the car at the top of the mountain to take this picture and in five minutes we were dripping with sweat. sooooooooo hot. I thought we could take a break from swimming and go on a fun, family hike. hehe. Not in August in St. George!

Nate and Darli came down with Neve and Giacomo. They never got enough swimming!

Swimmmmm

Fox is running through the little fountain in our old town Arvada. The kids loved sitting on the holes thinking that the shooting water would launch them high into the sky but no such luck. All they got was wet.

At the "beach" ( Penelope likes to put quotes around it because its not a REAL beach ( beach snob;))) The water was sooooo cold because it's a mountain lake. They loved making pools in the sand.

The little ones are having a rest on the warm sidewalk. We found the perfect water park for our kids under eight. Everything was miniature so they had a blast.

Summer was mad. She came all ready to dive in and we wouldn't let her.

Keystone Wedding

A friend of mine got married at Keystone ski resort on Friday night. I was the DJ and Sarah and Summer came up the gondola with me to set up. The ride up was beautiful:

Two Whole Years!!

Julia's Second Birthday was on the 11th. I can't believe she's not a baby any longer!!!

We spent a day up in the mountains and played in the stream. This is her usual pose for the camera.

This is her "it's too cold" face. She has a lot of funny faces. So Steve was out of town for her actual birthday so he missed the divine chocolate cake that we all enjoyed. So on the day we told her it was her birthday when steve was home we put candles in her ice cream sandwich and sang and she was delighted.

Thank you, Grandma, for the jammies.

Before we know it she will be doing this and we will wish she could stay two forever!

Ta Da! Julia says. We are here to watch the fireworks and as usual in Colorado we are in our winter coats on the fourth, it is so cold at night.

We had a perfect view from the top of the hill right in front of the show and we had excellent company!

I can never get enough of these adorable sleeping pictures. Princess.

Our wonderful friends Gian and Andrea stopped by en route to Virginia and spent a couple days with our family and it wasn't enough! they played with our kids so much and we all had a ball. It was so fun to see them. Here, Gian is giving the boys an art lesson and they are just eating it up!

Steve took our family on a little mini vaca. down to Colorado Springs for the weekend. We had a great time swimming and eating out, watching movies. The boys were in heaven in their own room with their own tv. They thought that was pretty cool.

Cooper is taking a breather from swimming with his feet in the hot tub.

Julia is washing Summer with a wet wipe and Summer is just watching her and enjoying the attention. A rare moment in mutual appreciation.

We had the opportunity to go to Lakeside Amusement park last night. This place has literally been around for 100 years. The kids had an amazing time. I don't have time to caption each photo, but you can tell from the grins that a good time was had by all.

A lot has happened recently, and we've been slow to post. Here are some miscellaneous pictures from the last few weeks. My Parents came out for a day for Summer's blessing. Grandpa brought a fancy camera from school, so some of these pictures turned out great:

Summer Stamps is already one month old today. I can't stand it! I knew it would go by fast. I have been enjoying every second of it. You can tell by our disorganized house and our consistant menu of pancakes and cream o' wheat ( thanks Steve!). All the other kids think they've died and gone to heaven. They all have been really good . Right now she's screaming "put me to sleep!"
